There are several indicators for ultrasounds or non-stress tests to be ordered by your doctor. Some of these indicators include diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney or heart disease, multiple gestations, decreased fetal movement, post dates, preterm labor, or other issues regarding the baby's growth and activity or function of the placenta.
Ultrasound scans are used to monitor high risk pregnancies, which can include women of advanced maternal age, multiple gestations, diabetes, high blood pressure, or any other chronic conditions that affect the outcome of the pregnancy. Women who have had a child with birth defects or who have a family history of birth defects may also benefit from the specialized ultrasounds available in our center. Our goal is to provide each woman with the most accurate information possible regarding the growth and development of her unborn child. We offer the full spectrum of genetic counseling and evaluation services including amniocentesis when necessary.
